Trash
Trash hides completed audit runs from normal Audit Library listing and preserves them for a limited time before automatic deletion.
Trash Lifecycle
A trashed run passes through defined states:
| State | What it means | Visible in |
|---|---|---|
| Active | Run appears in Audit Library and can be loaded | Run History (Audit Library) |
| Trashed | Run is hidden from normal listing, retained for 60 days | Trash Management (Config) |
| Purged | Run is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered | Nowhere |
Trashed runs are automatically deleted after 60 days. You can restore a run anytime during this window, or permanently delete it immediately if you no longer need it.
Send a Run to Trash
When a run no longer needs regular review, move it to trash to declutter Audit Library.
To send a run to trash:
- In Audit Library, find the run in Run History.
- Click the Trash icon (delete symbol) in the Actions column.
- A confirmation modal appears. Read the message carefully.
- Click Send to trash to confirm.
The run disappears from Audit Library immediately and is no longer selected as the latest run for its audit type.
What sending to trash preserves:
- The audit results remain intact in the system.
- If the run was pinned, its pinned state is preserved.
- The run name you assigned is preserved.
You can restore a trashed run anytime within 60 days without losing any information.
Restore a Trashed Run
If you need to review a trashed run again, restore it to bring it back to Audit Library without losing any data.
To restore a run:
- Go to Config (gear icon in the top navigation).
- Select the Trash Management tab.
- Find the run you want to restore in the trash list. The display shows how many days remain before automatic deletion.
- Click the Restore action for that run.
The run returns to Audit Library immediately. Restoring a run:
- Does not change its audit results.
- Does not change its name or pinned state.
- Makes it available to load again.
Restore is non-destructive and requires no confirmation.
Permanently Delete a Run
If you are certain you no longer need a trashed run, you can permanently delete it immediately without waiting for the 60-day automatic cleanup.
To permanently delete a run:
- Go to Config (gear icon in the top navigation).
- Select the Trash Management tab.
- Find the run you want to delete in the trash list.
- Click the Delete permanently action.
- A danger confirmation modal appears. Read it carefully — this action cannot be undone.
- Click Delete permanently to confirm.
The run and all its stored results are immediately and permanently removed. You cannot recover a permanently deleted run.
Automatic Cleanup (60-Day Retention)
The system automatically deletes trashed runs after 60 days. You do not need to do anything — cleanup happens in the background daily.
The 60-day window is the default retention period. Your Jira administrator can adjust this setting in Config > General Settings > Trash retention to match your organization's governance policy.
Changing the retention period is retroactive: If your administrator lowers the retention window, already-trashed runs may become eligible for automatic deletion sooner on the next daily cleanup. If the window is raised, currently-trashed runs get a longer grace period.
